HIK Abalone Farm

HIK Abalone Farm started in 1997, with the construction of the first grow-out platform. A hatchery soon followed in 2002 to the ensure the self-sufficiency of the company. A second site started development in 2015 and has grown to include two platforms and a second hatchery.

The company vision includes promoting sustainability and social upliftment through technological advancements, education and diversification.

Their adherence to the most stringent of standards has earned them ASC certification for responsible aquaculture as well as HACCP and FDA accreditation.

All I&J abalone products are free of any preservatives or chemicals.

Jacobsbaai Sea Products, situated in the picturesque West Coast village of Jacobsbaai, have been successfully producing farmed abalone since 1995.

Their facilities include a state-of-the-art hatchery and nursery that supplies the on-growing department with all the juvenile abalone needed to produce quality abalone for export.

The Buffeljags Abalone Farm’s wind turbines generate power for pumping fresh seawater through the farm. It is the only company in South Africa to be meeting its energy needs in this way.

Wild Coast Abalone has spun of several sister companies operating in Abalone Ranching and Stock Enhancement and Lobster. In these companies, community co-ops and even the long time workers at Wild Coat Abalone has been offered a stake in the businesses.
